Last night The Observer stopped by the opening night of Paper magazine's Super (Duper) Market. The second annual pop-up store, curated by Paper editor Kim Hastreiter, featured stalls filled with artisanal everything: from babka to sno-balls to crocheted oysters. Familiar faces including Henny Garfunkel, Bill Cunningham, Anna Sui and David Byrne were among the crowd in the church gymnasium-turned bazaar. Party goers struggled to balance samples with miniature bottles of sparkling rosé sipped through red and white paper straws (Target was a sponsor), while exchanging tips on what to try (the bourbon ice cream with cornflakes was a favorite, as was the dessert cornbread).
The Super (Duper) Market will be open all weekend.
